2-54 PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
Periodic Maintenance Procedures

• Install  the pad spring [A] in the caliper as shown.
• it into the cylinder
  Apply   brake  fluid to the outside of the piston [B], and push
                         by hand.
• Apply silicone grease to[C].the sleeve [D].
  Replace    the  dust  boot
• Install the sleeve with dust boot.

• Replace    the friction boot [A].
• Install the removed
  Check    that the guide [B] is in place on the caliper bracket.
• Wipe up any spilledparts      (see appropriate chapters).

Brake Pad Wear Inspection
• Remove      the brake pads (see Front/Rear Brake Pad Re-
  moval in the Brakes chapter).
• Check    the lining thickness [A] of the pads in each caliper.
  If the lining thickness of either pad is less than the service
  limit [B], replace both pads in the caliper as a set.
    Front Brake Pad [C]
    Rear Brake Pad [D]
  Pad Lining Thickness
    Standard:
      Front            4.0 mm (0.16 in.)
      Rear             5.0 mm (0.20 in.)
    Service Limit:     1 mm (0.04 in.)

Brake Light Switch Operation Inspection
• Turn the ignition switch on.
• lever is applied
  The  brake light (LED) [A] should go on when the brake
                    or after the brake pedal is depressed
  about 10 mm (0.39 in.).
